May 15, 2019: Effective May 10, 2019 Chinese imports into the US that are covered under the Section 301 third tranche are subject to the new import duty that went from 10% to 25%. However, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection updated guidance, the increased duties of 25% will not apply to goods that are exported from China prior to May 10th and that entered into the U.S. prior to June 1, 2019. Rather, if both requirements are met, such imports will enjoy the import duty of 10%. After June 1, all Chinese imports in tranche 3 will be subject to the 25% rate.
